About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and technically skilled Technical Risk Manager to lead the identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of technology-related risks across the organization. This role will oversee risks associated with cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, applications, data, third-party technology, systems availability, and technology operations.

The Technical Risk Manager will partner closely with Information Security, Engineering, IT, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, Infrastructure, and Executive Leadership to strengthen technology controls and improve organizational resilience. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with enterprise risk management expertise and the ability to translate complex technology risks into clear business recommendations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the organization’s technology risk management framework.
  • Identify, assess, prioritize, and monitor technical and technology-related risks.
  • Conduct technology risk assessments across applications, infrastructure, cloud environments, and data platforms.
  • Establish risk indicators, control requirements, risk thresholds, and monitoring processes.
  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to assess security vulnerabilities and emerging threats.
  • Evaluate cloud, network, application, data, and infrastructure risks.
  • Assess technology architecture and engineering practices for potential operational and security risks.
  • Develop and monitor remediation plans for identified technology risks and control gaps.
  • Maintain technology risk registers, control documentation, and risk reporting.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing risk assessments and control evidence.
  • Collaborate with IT and Engineering teams to strengthen technical controls.
  • Evaluate third-party and vendor technology risks, including security and resilience requirements.
  • Support business continuity, disaster recovery, and technology resilience initiatives.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and assess their potential risk implications.
  • Prepare executive-level technology risk dashboards and reports.
  • Establish risk management policies, standards, procedures, and governance processes.
  • Lead technology risk projects and mentor risk professionals.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in technology risk, cybersecurity risk, IT audit, information security, technology governance, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in risk management leadership or management responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, networks, applications, databases, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Experience with technology risk frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, COBIT, SOC 2, or similar standards.
  • Strong understanding of vulnerability management, access controls, incident management, business continuity, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience with GRC platforms, risk assessment tools, and security technologies.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or other cloud environments.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements related to technology and information security.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CISA, or equivalent are strongly preferred.

Strategic Support

The Technical Risk Manager plays a critical role in protecting the organization’s technology infrastructure, data, applications, and digital operations. This position ensures technology risks are identified early, appropriately prioritized, and effectively managed.

By partnering with Engineering, IT, Cybersecurity, Compliance, and Executive Leadership, the role strengthens technology governance, operational resilience, cybersecurity controls, regulatory readiness, and the organization’s ability to adopt new technologies responsibly.


Working Conditions

  • Fully Remote position within the United States.
  • Standard Monday through Friday schedule with flexibility for critical technology incidents.
  • Frequent virtual collaboration with Engineering, IT, Cybersecurity, Compliance, Audit, and Executive Leadership.
  • Primarily computer-based work using GRC, cybersecurity, cloud, analytics, and collaboration platforms.
  • Occasional travel for audits, technology risk assessments, conferences, executive meetings, and strategic planning.

Job Function

The Technical Risk Manager is responsible for managing technology risk across cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, applications, data, IT operations, third-party technology, and business resilience. This role establishes risk frameworks, monitors controls, manages remediation programs, and provides technology risk intelligence to senior leadership.


Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Package: $210,000 – $325,000 annually, based on technical risk experience, cybersecurity expertise, leadership capabilities, cloud knowledge, industry background, and overall qualifications.
