The Chief Supply Chain Officer will lead the full supply chain agenda across planning, procurement partnership, sourcing strategy, logistics, transportation, distribution, fulfillment, inventory management, supplier performance, network optimization, supply chain analytics, operational resilience, and customer delivery performance. This executive will partner closely with the CEO, Board, COO, CFO, Product, Technology, Procurement, Finance, Manufacturing, Operations, Sales, Customer Success, Legal, Compliance, Data Analytics, Vendor Management, and Executive Leadership to ensure supply chain decisions support customer commitments and business priorities.
This role requires a leader who can manage both long-term supply chain strategy and daily operational complexity. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead the enterprise supply chain strategy across demand planning, supply planning, procurement partnership, inventory management, supplier performance, logistics, transportation, fulfillment, and distribution operations.
• Build and execute a supply chain roadmap that improves customer service levels, cost efficiency, delivery reliability, inventory health, operational resilience, working capital, and enterprise scalability.
• Oversee end-to-end supply chain performance, including supplier readiness, inventory flow, inbound logistics, outbound transportation, warehouse coordination, order fulfillment, and customer delivery quality.
• Partner with the CEO, Board, COO, CFO, and executive leadership team to define supply chain priorities, investment plans, risk posture, service-level expectations, and long-term operating strategy.
• Lead integrated planning routines that connect demand signals, supply availability, inventory strategy, customer commitments, financial goals, and logistics capacity.
• Strengthen supplier and vendor performance management through scorecards, service-level reviews, risk assessments, contract accountability, escalation processes, and improvement planning.
• Improve transportation and logistics strategy across carrier management, freight cost control, routing discipline, capacity planning, lane optimization, shipment visibility, and delivery performance.
• Lead distribution and fulfillment strategy across warehouse networks, 3PL relationships, throughput, order accuracy, automation, inventory availability, and customer delivery readiness.
• Partner with Finance to manage supply chain budgets, logistics spend, working capital, cost-to-serve analysis, margin impact, capital investments, and operational efficiency programs.
• Partner with Technology and Data Analytics teams to modernize supply chain systems, improve data visibility, deploy AI-enabled planning tools, strengthen reporting, and automate manual workflows.
• Develop executive dashboards covering forecast accuracy, inventory turns, service levels, fill rates, on-time delivery, freight cost, supplier performance, capacity risk, and supply chain productivity.
• Lead supply chain risk management across supplier disruption, transportation delays, capacity constraints, demand volatility, geopolitical exposure, regulatory change, weather events, and business continuity needs.
• Evaluate network design, fulfillment models, supplier footprint, warehouse strategy, transportation lanes, automation opportunities, and strategic sourcing options.
• Build, mentor, and lead supply chain teams while creating a culture of accountability, data-driven decisions, operational discipline, customer commitment, and continuous improvement.
Job Qualifications and Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing, or a related field required.
• MBA, master’s degree, or advanced supply chain, operations, logistics, or business leadership education strongly preferred.
• Professional certifications such as CSCP, CPIM, CLTD, CPSM, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or similar credentials preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in supply chain leadership, logistics, procurement operations, demand and supply planning, fulfillment, manufacturing operations, transportation, distribution, or enterprise operations.
• 8+ years of senior executive leadership experience managing supply chain organizations, logistics networks, planning teams, procurement partnerships, distribution programs, or large-scale operational functions.
• Experience within ecommerce, manufacturing, consumer goods, retail operations, supply chain technology, logistics technology, healthcare logistics, industrial products, or large enterprise operations strongly preferred.
• Proven success in improving delivery performance, reducing logistics cost, optimizing inventory, strengthening supplier performance, improving planning maturity, and leading large operational teams.
• Strong understanding of S&OP, integrated business planning, transportation management, warehouse operations, inventory optimization, supplier risk, fulfillment models, procurement governance, and supply chain analytics.
• Experience with ERP, TMS, WMS, planning systems, inventory optimization platforms, supplier management tools, logistics visibility platforms, and business intelligence systems.
• Familiarity with tools such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Manhattan, Blue Yonder, Kinaxis, Anaplan, o9 Solutions, Coupa, E2open, project44, FourKites, Snowflake, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms preferred.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing freight spend, inventory investment, working capital, vendor contracts, cost-to-serve models, margin impact, and capital investment decisions.
• Experience working directly with CEOs, Boards, executive committees, suppliers, carriers, 3PL partners, procurement teams, operations leaders, finance leaders, customer-facing teams, and technology stakeholders.
