About the Opportunity

We are seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead the organization’s investment strategy, portfolio management, risk oversight, and long-term capital allocation initiatives. This executive position is responsible for developing and executing investment strategies aligned with organizational objectives, market conditions, risk parameters, and long-term financial goals.

The Chief Investment Officer will work closely with the CEO, executive leadership, investment professionals, finance teams, risk management, legal and compliance functions, and external investment partners. This role will provide strategic direction across asset allocation, investment selection, portfolio construction, performance management, and investment governance.

The ideal candidate brings extensive investment leadership experience, strong financial and analytical capabilities, disciplined risk management, and a proven ability to make sophisticated capital allocation decisions. The successful candidate will combine long-term strategic thinking with rigorous investment discipline and strong executive judgment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the organization’s comprehensive investment strategy and investment policy.
  • Establish strategic asset allocation frameworks aligned with investment objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Lead portfolio construction, investment selection, manager evaluation, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Oversee investment performance across public and private market portfolios.
  • Evaluate market conditions, economic trends, industry developments, and emerging investment opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain investment risk management frameworks and portfolio monitoring processes.
  • Lead investment committee meetings and present portfolio recommendations to executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Establish investment performance benchmarks, objectives, and reporting standards.
  • Evaluate external investment managers, advisors, funds, and strategic investment partners.
  • Conduct due diligence on prospective investments, managers, and investment opportunities.
  • Oversee liquidity planning, portfolio diversification, and capital deployment strategies.
  • Ensure investment activities remain consistent with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Operations teams on investment governance.
  • Develop investment reports, market analyses, forecasts, and executive-level presentations.
  • Monitor portfolio exposure, concentration, liquidity, valuation, and downside risk.
  • Identify opportunities to improve portfolio performance, diversification, and long-term risk-adjusted returns.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing investment team.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • MBA, CFA, or advanced investment-related qualification strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive investment management or institutional investment experience.
  • Significant experience leading investment strategy, portfolio management, asset allocation, or capital markets functions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex portfolios and substantial investment mandates.
  • Strong knowledge of public and private markets, alternative investments, fixed income, equities, and portfolio construction.
  • Deep understanding of investment risk management, valuation, liquidity, and performance measurement.
  • Proven experience working with investment committees, boards, executives, and institutional stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, macroeconomic trends, and investment research.
  • Excellent analytical, financial modeling, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing investment professionals and external advisors.

Strategic Support

The Chief Investment Officer serves as the organization’s senior investment authority and provides strategic direction over capital allocation, portfolio construction, investment risk, and long-term investment performance.

This role works closely with executive leadership and governance bodies to ensure investment decisions support the organization’s financial objectives while maintaining appropriate risk, liquidity, diversification, and compliance standards.

Through disciplined investment strategy, rigorous research, portfolio oversight, and proactive risk management, the CIO contributes directly to long-term financial performance, capital preservation, and sustainable organizational growth.


Working Conditions

  • Fully Remote position within the United States.

Job Function

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Package: $450,000 – $750,000 annually, including base compensation, performance-based incentives, and potential long-term incentive participation, based on investment leadership experience, portfolio scope, assets under management, investment strategy, industry expertise, and overall qualifications.
