We are seeking an experienced Assistant Property Manager to support the daily operations of a portfolio of residential and commercial properties. This role assists with leasing operations, resident relations, financial reporting, vendor coordination, compliance, maintenance oversight, and administrative management while ensuring each property operates efficiently and delivers exceptional service.

The Assistant Property Manager collaborates closely with Property Managers, Leasing Consultants, Maintenance Supervisors, Regional Leadership, Finance, Legal, Marketing, and Vendor Partners to maintain high occupancy rates, optimize financial performance, and enhance resident satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the daily management and operational performance of residential and commercial properties.
  • Assist with leasing activities, resident onboarding, lease renewals, and move-in/move-out coordination.
  • Respond to resident and tenant inquiries while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Coordinate maintenance requests, vendor services, inspections, and repair scheduling.
  • Assist with rent collection, accounts receivable, budgeting, expense tracking, and financial reporting.
  • Monitor occupancy levels and support marketing initiatives to improve leasing performance.
  • Maintain accurate lease files, resident records, contracts, and property documentation.
  • Conduct property inspections to ensure compliance with company standards, safety regulations, and local ordinances.
  • Support vendor contract administration, procurement activities, and service quality monitoring.
  • Assist with compliance related to Fair Housing, OSHA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare operational reports, occupancy reports, resident satisfaction metrics, and executive summaries.
  • Support annual budgeting, capital improvement planning, and operational forecasting.
  • Collaborate with regional leadership on property improvement initiatives and business objectives.
  • Promote positive resident relationships while supporting community engagement activities.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, Property Management, Finance, Hospitality, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in residential, commercial, or multifamily property management.
  • Strong understanding of leasing operations, resident relations, property maintenance coordination, and financial administration.
  • Experience using Yardi, AppFolio, RealPage, Entrata, MRI Software, or comparable property management platforms.
  • Knowledge of Fair Housing regulations, landlord-tenant laws, property compliance, and operational best practices.
  • Strong financial reporting, budgeting, and organizational skills.
  • Certified Apartment Manager (CAM), Certified Property Manager (CPM), or similar professional designation is considered an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

  • Approximately 15–25% domestic travel for property inspections, resident meetings, vendor coordination, training, and regional leadership meetings.

Job Function

The Assistant Property Manager is responsible for supporting the daily operations of residential and commercial properties by assisting with leasing, resident services, maintenance coordination, financial administration, compliance, and vendor management. This role partners with property leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure operational efficiency, resident satisfaction, and long-term asset performance. Success is measured through occupancy rates, resident retention, financial performance, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.


Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Package

Base Salary: $232,000 – $298,000 USD annually

Compensation is determined based on property management experience, portfolio complexity, certifications, geographic location, operational expertise, and overall qualifications.
