About the Opportunity

We are seeking an accomplished and innovative Senior Scientist to lead scientific research, experimental development, technical investigations, and data-driven problem solving across high-priority R&D initiatives. This role will contribute to research strategy, experimental design, technical documentation, and the development of innovative solutions that advance organizational objectives.

The Senior Scientist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Research & Development, Engineering, Product Development, Quality, Regulatory, and Operations. The ideal candidate brings deep scientific expertise, strong analytical capabilities, excellent scientific communication, and a proven ability to lead complex research programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead research and development projects from experimental design through technical evaluation.
  • Develop hypotheses, experimental plans, methodologies, and research strategies.
  • Design, execute, and interpret complex scientific experiments.
  • Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical and analytical methods.
  • Identify trends, investigate unexpected results, and develop scientifically sound conclusions.
  • Develop and optimize laboratory methods, protocols, processes, and analytical techniques.
  • Lead technical investigations and root-cause analysis for complex scientific problems.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, research records, protocols, and technical documentation.
  • Prepare scientific reports, presentations, publications, and technical summaries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate scientific findings into practical solutions.
  • Evaluate new technologies, methodologies, instrumentation, and scientific literature.
  • Mentor junior scientists, research associates, and technical professionals.
  • Support intellectual property development, technical documentation, and invention disclosures where applicable.
  • Contribute to regulatory, quality, validation, and compliance activities.
  • Present research findings to technical teams, leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Manage project timelines, research priorities, resources, and technical deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and scientific advancement.
  • Stay current with relevant scientific developments, technologies, and industry trends.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Materials Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant scientific research or R&D experience; advanced-degree requirements may vary by discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise in experimental design, scientific analysis, and research methodology.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and analytical methods.
  • Experience leading complex research projects and multidisciplinary technical initiatives.
  • Strong statistical and quantitative analysis capabilities.
  • Proficiency with scientific data-analysis and documentation tools.
  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or comparable platforms preferred.
  • Strong understanding of scientific quality systems and research documentation.
  • Experience mentoring junior scientific professionals.
  • Relevant professional certifications or specialized technical training are a plus.

The role also strengthens the organization’s scientific knowledge base through technical leadership, mentoring, documentation, and evaluation of emerging technologies and research opportunities.

Working Conditions

  • Remote-based position with travel as required.
  • Standard Monday through Friday schedule.
  • Flexible hours may occasionally be required for critical experiments, research milestones, or collaboration with international teams.
  • Frequent virtual collaboration with scientists, engineers, product teams, quality professionals, and leadership.
  • Primarily computer-based analytical and research planning work.
  • Laboratory, manufacturing, or testing-facility access may occasionally be required depending on project needs.
  • Travel may be required for scientific conferences, technical meetings, research collaborations, or facility visits.

Job Function

The Senior Scientist leads scientific research, experimental development, technical investigations, data analysis, method development, scientific documentation, and multidisciplinary R&D initiatives while mentoring scientific professionals and supporting organizational innovation.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Package: $185,000 – $250,000 annually, based on scientific specialization, education, research experience, technical expertise, industry background, and overall qualifications.
