About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and technically accomplished Senior Project Engineer to provide technical leadership and project coordination across complex engineering and infrastructure initiatives. This role will bridge engineering design, project execution, cost management, scheduling, quality, and stakeholder coordination to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with technical and contractual requirements.

The Senior Project Engineer will collaborate with Project Managers, engineers, architects, contractors, vendors, clients, and senior leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong engineering expertise, project controls knowledge, technical problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership throughout the planning and execution of engineering projects.
  • Coordinate engineering activities across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, designs, and technical documentation.
  • Develop and monitor technical project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Support Project Managers with budgets, resource planning, procurement, and project controls.
  • Identify technical, schedule, cost, quality, and operational risks.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, vendors, and engineering partners.
  • Review technical submittals, RFIs, change requests, and engineering deliverables.
  • Lead technical meetings and coordinate resolution of complex engineering issues.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control programs.
  • Monitor project progress and provide technical status reports to leadership.
  • Assist with cost estimates, forecasts, change management, and financial tracking.
  • Support testing, commissioning, validation, inspection, and acceptance activities.
  • Ensure engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and contractual requirements.
  • Investigate technical problems and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate project records, drawings, specifications, calculations, and documentation.
  • Mentor Project Engineers and junior engineering professionals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, project controls, and delivery methods.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of progressive engineering or project engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading complex engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design, project execution, construction coordination, and technical documentation.
  • Experience managing project schedules, budgets, technical deliverables, and engineering resources.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or comparable engineering/project-management platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable engineering codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with quality control, risk management, change management, and project reporting.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure preferred.
  • PMP, CCM, or comparable project-management certification is a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Remote-based position with travel as required.
  • Standard Monday through Friday schedule.
  • Flexible hours may occasionally be required to support project milestones or critical technical activities.
  • Frequent virtual collaboration with engineering, construction, project management, vendors, and clients.
  • Primarily computer-based technical and project coordination work.
  • Occasional travel to project sites, inspections, client meetings, commissioning activities, and industry events.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Package: $165,000 – $250,000 annually, based on engineering experience, technical specialization, project complexity, industry expertise, professional licensure, and overall qualifications.
