About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Embedded Software Developer to design, develop, and optimize embedded software solutions that power next-generation products, connected devices, and intelligent systems. This role is responsible for developing reliable, high-performance firmware and embedded applications while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.

The Embedded Software Developer will work closely with Hardware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Quality Assurance, Product Management, DevOps, and Executive Leadership to deliver secure, scalable, and efficient embedded software solutions. This position will contribute to firmware architecture, device drivers, real-time operating systems (RTOS), hardware integration, system validation, and continuous product improvement.

The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in embedded programming, real-time systems, hardware interfaces, and low-level software development. Success in this role requires exceptional technical problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to transform complex engineering requirements into high-quality embedded software solutions.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software and firmware for intelligent hardware products.
  • Develop low-level software, device drivers, bootloaders, middleware, and embedded applications.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software with processors, microcontrollers, sensors, and peripheral devices.
  • Develop software for real-time operating systems (RTOS) and bare-metal embedded platforms.
  • Optimize firmware performance, memory utilization, power consumption, and system reliability.
  • Design and implement communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, Ethernet, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
  • Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis using hardware and software diagnostic tools.
  • Participate in software architecture, code reviews, technical design discussions, and engineering documentation.
  • Develop automated testing, validation procedures, and verification frameworks.
  • Support continuous integration, automated builds, and release management activities.
  • Ensure compliance with coding standards, cybersecurity requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Systems Engineering to define technical requirements.
  • Research emerging embedded technologies and recommend innovative engineering solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering process improvements.
  • Support product releases, field issue resolution, and ongoing software maintenance.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience developing embedded software and firmware.
  • Strong proficiency in C and C++, with experience in embedded Linux or RTOS environments.
  • Experience with ARM, x86, RISC-V, or other embedded processor architectures.
  • Strong understanding of microcontrollers, embedded hardware, and hardware-software integration.
  • Experience with debugging tools, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, and embedded development environments.
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and software configuration management.
  • Knowledge of embedded security principles, communication protocols, and software optimization techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions

  • Fully Remote position within the United States.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Package: $190,000 – $295,000 annually, based on embedded software expertise, firmware development experience, technical specialization, industry background, and overall qualifications.
