About the Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Fraud and Risk Operator to support the organization’s fraud prevention, risk assessment, transaction monitoring, and operational compliance initiatives. This role is responsible for identifying suspicious activities, investigating potential fraud, mitigating operational risks, and protecting customers and business assets through proactive monitoring and timely decision-making.
The Fraud and Risk Operator will collaborate closely with Risk Management, Compliance, Customer Support, Finance, Operations, Cybersecurity, Information Security, and Legal teams to investigate alerts, analyze transaction patterns, resolve fraud cases, and strengthen fraud prevention controls. This position plays a vital role in maintaining regulatory compliance, minimizing financial losses, and enhancing customer trust.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor customer accounts, transactions, and system alerts to identify suspicious or potentially fraudulent activity.
- Investigate fraud alerts using internal systems, transaction history, and risk analysis tools.
- Review account activity to detect unusual patterns, identity theft, payment fraud, account takeover, and financial crime indicators.
- Evaluate fraud risks and make timely decisions regarding account actions and case resolution.
- Escalate complex fraud investigations to senior analysts or specialized investigation teams when necessary.
- Collaborate with Customer Support and Compliance teams to verify customer information and resolve account-related issues.
- Document investigation findings, case activities, and recommendations accurately and thoroughly.
- Monitor fraud trends and identify emerging threats or operational risks.
- Assist in improving fraud detection rules, operational procedures, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Support regulatory compliance requirements related to fraud prevention and financial crime.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer information and sensitive business data.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews and operational performance initiatives.
- Contribute to process improvement projects that enhance fraud detection efficiency and customer experience.
- Maintain accurate case records using fraud management and case management platforms.
- Stay informed about industry best practices, fraud schemes, and evolving regulatory requirements.
Job Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Finance, Accounting, Information Security, Risk Management, or a related discipline preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Fraud Operations, Risk Management, Financial Crime, Banking Operations, Compliance, or Customer Support.
- Experience reviewing financial transactions, payment systems, or fraud detection platforms is preferred.
- Familiarity with fraud prevention tools, case management systems, and risk monitoring platforms.
- Knowledge of AML, KYC, fraud prevention principles, and financial services regulations is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
- Ability to manage multiple investigations while maintaining accuracy and meeting service level agreements.

Working Conditions
- Fully Remote position within the United States.

Job Function

Compensation & Benefits
Compensation Package: $90,000 – $135,000 annually, based on fraud operations experience, risk management expertise, industry background, technical skills, and overall qualifications.
