We are seeking an accomplished Principal Cloud Engineer to provide technical leadership for enterprise cloud architecture, platform engineering, infrastructure automation, and cloud modernization initiatives. This senior engineering role will define cloud strategy, establish engineering standards, lead complex technical programs, and mentor engineering teams responsible for building resilient, secure, and scalable cloud platforms.

The Principal Cloud Engineer will collaborate with Software Engineering, DevOps, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Architecture, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, Product Management, and Executive Leadership to deliver enterprise cloud solutions that align with long-term business objectives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale cloud architecture across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform environments.
  • Define cloud engineering standards, governance policies, and infrastructure best practices.
  • Architect highly available, fault-tolerant, and secure cloud-native solutions supporting mission-critical applications.
  • Lead cloud migration, modernization, and infrastructure transformation initiatives.
  • Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or similar technologies.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering teams to improve CI/CD automation, deployment pipelines, and operational resilience.
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Implement cloud security controls aligned with Zero Trust Architecture and industry compliance standards.
  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend strategic investments supporting long-term innovation.
  • Provide technical leadership during architecture reviews, engineering planning, and executive technology discussions.
  • Mentor senior engineers, establish engineering standards, and promote technical excellence across cloud teams.
  • Develop disaster recovery, high availability, backup, and business continuity strategies.
  • Support enterprise observability through monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance analytics platforms.
  • Prepare architecture documentation, technical roadmaps, and executive presentations supporting strategic initiatives.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline required.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cloud Computing, or Business Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, systems architecture, or platform engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years designing enterprise cloud solutions within large-scale production environments.
  • Advanced expertise with AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong experience with Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, serverless computing, and cloud-native application platforms.
  • Expert knowledge of Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Pulumi, or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
  • Experience implementing DevOps, GitOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of networking, identity management, cloud security, Zero Trust, IAM, and compliance frameworks.
  • Professional certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect, CKA, or Terraform Associate are highly preferred.
  • Exceptional leadership, architecture, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Working Conditions

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Package

Base Salary: $364,000 – $418,000 USD annually

Compensation is determined based on cloud architecture expertise, engineering leadership, enterprise infrastructure experience, technical certifications, geographic location, and overall qualifications.
