As an Inventory Specialist, you will collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Warehouse Operations, Manufacturing, Logistics, Quality Assurance, Finance, and Customer Service teams to maintain inventory integrity, monitor stock levels, coordinate replenishment activities, and improve inventory processes across multiple operational functions. You will analyze inventory trends, investigate discrepancies, support cycle count programs, and contribute to operational initiatives that improve productivity and reduce inventory-related costs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure material availability while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Perform daily inventory transactions, reconciliations, and stock adjustments within enterprise inventory management systems.
  • Conduct cycle counts, physical inventory audits, and inventory verification activities.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and perform root cause analysis to improve inventory accuracy.
  • Coordinate inventory replenishment activities with Procurement, Warehouse, and Production teams.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, documentation, and inventory control procedures.
  • Analyze inventory performance metrics, turnover rates, stock variances, and replenishment trends.
  • Support warehouse operations including receiving, storage, transfers, and material movements.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Logistics teams to ensure timely material availability for production and customer orders.
  • Generate inventory reports, dashboards, and operational performance summaries.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory control policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with ERP system updates, inventory optimization initiatives, and process improvement projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency, inventory accuracy, and material flow.
  • Support vendor coordination, returns processing, and inventory disposition activities.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and efficient warehouse environment while following company safety procedures.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Associate degree with relevant inventory management experience will also be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, logistics, manufacturing, or supply chain management.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control principles, warehouse operations, and material management processes.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar inventory management platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and inventory reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to lift materials and work within warehouse or manufacturing environments as required.
  • Experience with cycle counting, inventory audits, and warehouse management systems is preferred.

The Inventory Specialist serves as a key operational partner responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, optimizing material availability, and supporting efficient supply chain operations. This role collaborates with Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, Warehouse Operations, Logistics, Finance, and Quality teams to implement inventory control strategies that improve operational performance, reduce costs, and strengthen customer satisfaction.

Working Conditions

  • On-site position based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
  • Standard Monday through Friday schedule with occasional overtime based on operational requirements.
  • Warehouse and manufacturing environment requiring standing, walking, lifting, and frequent movement throughout the facility.
  • Regular interaction with warehouse personnel, production teams, suppliers, and business stakeholders.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Package: $85,000 – $120,000 annually, based on experience, inventory management expertise, technical skills, and overall qualifications.
