This is not a traditional software engineering role focused only on assigned features, isolated service work, or routine maintenance. The Senior Software Engineer Systems will serve as a senior technical contributor responsible for designing, building, optimizing, and supporting systems that power core applications, infrastructure services, internal platforms, customer-facing products, and enterprise workflows.

The selected candidate will work closely with Engineering Leadership, Platform Engineering, DevOps, Security, Data Engineering, Product, QA, Site Reliability, Customer Success, Support, and business stakeholders to ensure systems are designed for reliability, scalability, performance, security, and long-term maintainability. This role will support both new system development and modernization of existing architecture, including service improvements, automation, performance tuning, observability, and production readiness.

Your Role at the Company

As Senior Software Engineer Systems, you will design, build, test, deploy, and improve software systems that support cloud platforms, backend services, infrastructure workflows, data movement, internal tools, automation, and enterprise application performance.

You will be responsible for developing system-level software, scalable services, APIs, integration layers, automation tools, observability improvements, reliability enhancements, and performance-focused engineering solutions.

You will serve as a trusted senior engineering contributor while maintaining accountability for system quality, uptime, performance, scalability, security, documentation, and production readiness.

The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals, systems architecture awareness, cloud infrastructure experience, debugging ability, automation mindset, security awareness, and practical judgment to support reliable enterprise technology delivery.

What You’ll Do

Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable systems, backend services, platform components, APIs, internal tools, automation workflows, and infrastructure-supporting software.

Build and improve distributed systems that support high-volume applications, customer-facing platforms, internal business systems, data workflows, and enterprise integrations.

Partner with Platform Engineering, DevOps, and Site Reliability teams to improve cloud architecture, deployment pipelines, service reliability, monitoring, logging, incident response, and operational readiness.

Partner with Product and Engineering teams to translate technical requirements, scalability needs, and system constraints into practical software solutions.

Partner with Security teams to support secure system design, access controls, authentication, authorization, encryption, vulnerability remediation, and compliance expectations.

Improve system performance, reliability, resilience, fault tolerance, scalability, cost efficiency, observability, and long-term maintainability.

Develop APIs, service integrations, background jobs, event-driven workflows, data processing components, and orchestration services that support business and product needs.

Support infrastructure automation, configuration management, CI/CD workflows, deployment tooling, environment management, release processes, and operational scripting.

Analyze production issues, review logs, trace system behavior, identify root causes, resolve defects, and implement preventive engineering improvements.

Improve testing practices through unit tests, integration tests, system tests, performance tests, regression checks, and automated validation workflows.

Identify technical debt, architecture gaps, reliability risks, performance bottlenecks, manual processes, and opportunities for modernization.

Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, system runbooks, design notes, API documentation, incident notes, and operational procedures.

Participate in code reviews, architecture reviews, technical planning, sprint activities, design discussions, and production-readiness reviews.

Mentor junior and mid-level engineers by providing technical guidance, design feedback, code review support, and practical engineering coaching.

What You’ll Bring

6+ years of professional software engineering experience building systems software, backend services, distributed systems, cloud platforms, infrastructure tools, enterprise software, or scalable applications.

Experience working within enterprise SaaS, AI-enabled technology, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, fintech, healthcare technology, data platforms, developer tools, ecommerce, or large-scale technology environments preferred.

Strong programming experience in one or more languages such as Python, Java, Go, C++, C#, TypeScript, JavaScript, Kotlin, Scala, Rust, or similar modern engineering languages.

Experience designing and building backend services, APIs, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, microservices, data processing systems, platform tools, or enterprise integrations.

Strong understanding of system design, data structures, networking fundamentals, operating systems concepts, concurrency, APIs, service reliability, scalability, and production operations.

Experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, serverless services, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and observability platforms.

Experience with databases, queues, and data systems such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, Snowflake, Spark, or similar technologies.

Experience with monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, incident response, performance tuning, root cause analysis, and system reliability practices.

Familiarity with secure software development, authentication, authorization, secrets management, encryption, access controls, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements.

Experience using tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Jira, Linear, Confluence, Datadog, New Relic, Grafana, Prometheus, Sentry, Splunk, Postman, Slack, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or similar platforms preferred.

Ability to work with Engineering Leadership, Platform Engineering, DevOps, Security, Data Engineering, Product, QA, Site Reliability, Customer Success, Support, and business stakeholders.

Excellent technical communication, problem-solving, documentation, code review, collaboration, debugging, and follow-through skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related technical field preferred.

Compensation Package: $300,000 – $398,000

Base Salary: $300,000 – $398,000.
